Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe and causes of prison stress are minimised. Central to our philosophy is the relationship between staff and prisoners. Our training and operational practices emphasise the need to treat prisoners with dignity and respect and G4S staff build positive and supportive relationships with the prisoners in their care. HMP & YOI Parc accommodates 1038 convicted male adult prisoners and remand/ convicted young offenders and young people in a secure but modern environment.

We now have an opportunity for a Recruitment & HR Officer to join our team at HMP Parc.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate the recruitment of all staff, including responding to applicants, updating the HR system, maintaining the recruitment board, advertise vacancies on Intranet, pre-interview screening checks, organisation of assessment centres / interviews and all related administration.
  • Assist in the development of advertising campaigns and participation in interview boards.
  • Co-ordinate the Company screening process to ensure compliance with operational policies
  • Ensure accurate recording of the internal movement of staff between areas in line with the Staff Rotation Policy.
  • Attend the Recruitment board & manage the ‘Authority to Recruit’ process. Or Workforce Planning Meetings as appropriate at site
  • Participate in the Investors in People working group
  • Ensure all new starter documentation is produced and co-ordinated in a timely manner and forwarded to payroll for processing
  • Liaise with Training and Development Department to ensure new starters receive induction training.
  • Ensure the job description library is maintained and updated
  • Provide confirmation of Home Office clearance to the HR & Training Assistant for the provision of ID cards.
  • Provide Reports as required from the HR system.
  • Contribute to the ITC and non-operational induction process to provide information as required.
  • Assist in the facilitation and delivery of HR training, where required.
  • Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role
  • Assist the HR Advisor and HRBP with ad-hoc projects.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Essential Skills:

  • Experience of working in a busy HR or Administration Office.
  • Experience of setting u and running interview panels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong emphasis on meeting deadlines and managing priorities.

 

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of working with recruitment agencies.
  • Knowledge or experience of running assessment centres for high volumes of candidates.
