Resident Care
Act as an intermediary between the kitchen and the resident, family/whanau or visitor.
Help residents choose their meals, if applicable/required.
Relay information to the kitchen in a timely manner to ensure kitchen is prepared and can deliver resident choices as requests, if applicable/required.
Help distribute morning and afternoon tea to clients in lounges and their own bedrooms.
Help to serve meals to residents in dining rooms and individually to bedrooms.
Deliver newspapers and magazines to residents.
To support the Communications Coordinator with communication from families to residents and vice versa, by helping residents receive telephone calls from family/whanau. Where appropriate assist the Communications Coordinator to help residents set up Skype accounts to be able to receive Skype calls (or similar).
To accurately and timely pass on any messages for family/whanau to residents.
Hospitality
Help to maintain tidy dining rooms and lounges.
Ensure tables are set correctly, that linen is clean, cutlery, and crockery and glassware are correctly spaced and maintain social distancing.
Monitor status of tables to ensure you have an awareness of diners’ needs.
Clear tables of unused/used items to minimise clutter at the end of the service.
Make residents beds (changing linen as required) and to assist to keep their rooms tidy.
Distribute clean personal laundry and ensure it is tidily placed in cupboards and wardrobes in residents’ rooms.
Wipe down/clean dining room tables and chairs after meal service ensuring all used linen is correctly placed in linen trollies.
Help site re-stock all linen cupboards with clean linen and assist with laundry arrivals from the central laundry (as and when required).
Housekeeping Assistance
Assist with cleaning in the dining room, lounges and other communal spaces, as and when required.
Make residents beds (changing linen as required).
Empty residents' rubbish bins as required.
Distribute clean personal laundry and ensure it is tidily placed in cupboards and wardrobes in residents’ rooms.
Assist to fold and sort clean linen and re-stock all linen cupboards with clean linen.
Assist with frequent cleaning of high touch areas.
Activity Assistance
To assist residents to engage in activities such as jigsaws and puzzles.
To be able to engage with a resident to undertake an appropriate activity such as reading the newspaper with them.
Understanding the importance of connecting with a resident through conversation.
To be willing to be flexible in assisting with activities such as fingernail painting and other activities.
Competencies
Willing to be flexible in assisting across the Care Home, as and when required, with the ability to multitask and juggle various tasks
Friendly, warm and caring attitude in all situations
Able to communicate effectively with others
Ability to take direction and work in a team environment
Understand the need for proper etiquette and service standards

Qualifications, Training and Experience
Previous experience in a hospitality or aged care setting
Previous hospitality training would be advantageous
