HGV Driver Class 2

Salary: from £13.95 to £23.06

Hermes are growing! We have exciting, flexible opportunities for HGV Class 2 Drivers (or Cat C Drivers as we sometimes call them) to join our growing depot team. Here at Hermes we work around the clock to satisfy our Customers so for you, this means we can offer you flexibility and a choice of Days or Night shifts; Full-time or part-time opportunities. You could join us permanently, or in a fixed term seasonal role.

What We Can Offer You:

Class 2 Driver Day Shift – £13.95 per hour (incl basic pay plus a location allowance), overtime paid at £16.31 per hour (paid after average 40 hours per week) and up to £21.74 per hour on Bank Holidays.

Class 2 Driver Night Shift – £14.95 per hour (incl basic pay plus a location allowance), overtime paid at £17.30 per hour (paid after average 40 hours per week) and £23.06 per hour on Bank Holidays.

What You’ll Do:

Night Drivers - Our HGV Class 2 Night Drivers work on shifts, safely transporting parcels from our Depot to a Delivery Unit (that's where our couriers pick them up). You will typically do 2 or 3 'wave' runs a night.

Day Drivers – Our HGV Class 2 Day Drivers safely transport our parcels to Hermes Couriers homes, or they pick up parcels from our local Clients and our Delivery Units bringing them back safely to our Depot. As a Day Driver you will typically have a run with 10 – 15 drops.

Whatever the shift or the route, Hermes Drivers ensure the safe, efficient driving of vehicles and keep their paperwork updated.

We know the great British roads and weather don’t always play nicely, so you’ll need to keep our Depot transport team updated with any problems. We can then help find an alternative route.

Our full time HGV Class 2 driver roles are typically 40 hours a week but flexible contracts and part time hours are available.

Essential Skills & Experience Required:

• You’ll need a full UK driving licence with HGV Class 2 (Cat C) entitlements, driver's CPC and digital tachograph. Newly-qualified drivers are welcome, however all drivers will need to undertake a short driving assessment.
• Excellent communication skills
• A safety-first mindset
• Reasonable physical fitness
