The purpose of the position is to provide a comprehensive range of health care support and Hearing and Ear health service through Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities and community venues to Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities for the maintenance and promotion of individual, family and community wellbeing. The Health Worker – Hearing and Ear Health – will provide the necessary health care services alone or as part of team, in accordance with organisational plans, protocols and procedures for PHC Services.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Demonstrated understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait culture, particularly with regard to the health status and needs of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations and demonstrated ability to communicate and liaise with the indigenous community.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
• Awareness of, and willingness to learn and comply with Human Resource Management issues, such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination in relation to Queensland Health policies and guidelines.

Requirements for the role:

• Possession of a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
• Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
• It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19 (

and Queensland Health Human Resources ).
