About the role
The Health & Fitness Supervisor will partner with Aquatics Manager to supervise a dedicated team which carries out the operations, and ensures the safety of QLDC aquatics facilities.
The role will be part of a large team responsible for the supervision of staff and ensuring all resources allocated to the area are used in the most efficient way.
Key areas of responsibility :
- Day to day operational supervision of pool and health & fitness staff, ensuring excellent service delivery, customer satisfaction, utilisation of all resources in an efficient, effective and safe manner.
- Management of rosters including management of staff leave requests and timesheet approval
- Work closely with Aquatics Manager to identify and implement a continuous improvement work plan.
- Monitor staff performance ensuring timely feedback to Aquatics Manager to foster effective performance management of all staff.
- Deliver on the job training and staff assessment as per industry standards.
- Ensure that all staff training records are current and maintain a staff portfolio list under your direct line report for training, tutoring and development.
- Ensuring any maintenance or hygiene issues are communicated and resolved in a timely manner
About You
The successful candidate will hold :
- 2 years + supervisory experience required.
- Ideally 3 years + experience in a sports and recreation environment.
- Level 4 NZQA qualifications in Sports & Recreation or equivalent are desirable.
- Tertiary qualification in Recreation & Sports Management is desirable.
- A current NZQA affiliated First Aid Certificate that meets the following U / S : Unit standards Group (both of : 26551 & 25552) and / or unit standards group B (all of : 6400, 6401, 6402)
- A current NZQA affiliated Pool Lifeguard Skills Award or Pool Lifeguard Pool Competency Award Practicing Certificate (preferred).
- Must be a confident swimmer and able to swim 200m continuously and competently in less than 6 minutes but preferred in less than 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
- Must be able to competently complete 25m sidestroke, 50m Breaststroke, 5 mins treading water and you must be able to recover an object form the deepest part of the facility.
- Must be able to carry out a variety of water rescues and life-saving techniques correctly and competently.
