About the team

 

The Safety, Environment and Regulation (SER) division works together to deliver globally recognised, safe, sustainable transport for our people, customers and the community including working towards zero fatalities on our roads and waterways, and net-zero emissions for Transport by 2056. SER develops and communicates evidence-based safety, environment and regulatory strategy for our people, customers and the community. Creates, delivers and maintains clear, outcome-focused frameworks, policies, standards and regulatory programs to enable consistent delivery and continuous improvement.

 

 

The opportunity

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor to join Transport for NSW. As Health & Safety Advisor you will support the provision of functional Health and Safety Management across project and business division activities within the Chief Customer Office in the Regional and Outer Metro area of TfNSW. The role contributes to the maintenance of an effective risk management process, through implementing all safety policies, protocols and procedures, keeping correct and up-to-date administrative records and facilitating training in safety policies and requirements across all activities on behalf of the NSW State Government.

 

The successful applicant will be involved in the following:

 

Support the development and implementation of a detailed safety management plan that delivers on our legal obligations, is business division focused and reinforces the key relationship of the business division to the achievement of the overall business plan for the organisation

Identify, investigate and resolve any problems, complaints, issues raised in consultation with operational management and staff and put appropriate, effective controls in place to proactively manage risks

Support the creation and development of Safety reports and other documentation for the business division

Support investigations, identifying contributing factors to failures and incidents and corrective actions to resolve these, proactively following up to close out actions

Support and drive health and safety assurance processes for business divisions

Support and drive an integrated Safety Management System across multiple divisions

About you

 

On a daily basis you will be responsible for supporting the business divisions with contractor assurance, health and safety systems and incident investigations. You will enjoy working both on site to liaise with industry partners and employees as well as being office based in a hybrid ways of working capacity. You will have excellent knowledge of and experience in Health & Safety legislation and best practice and be able to work autonomously. You will be a flexible team player who thrives in a fast paced, highly complex environment. Attention to detail, the ability to be adaptable and take initiative and a can do approach are essential. You will possess excellent organisational, interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.

 

 

Essential requirements

 

Tertiary qualifications in health and safety and/or extensive relevant industry experience

 

 

Salary and benefits

 

The salary for this position is Transport Grade 8 ($120,423 - $134,872) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
