Job Introduction

This is an opportunity to lead TV Licensing’s communication team. You will be in charge of planning, delivery and evaluation across proactive and reactive media, social media and stakeholder relations.

You’ll play a key role in supporting a broad network of stakeholders across the UK, managing our reputation and explaining how effective collection of the Licence Fee supports the BBC’s world-class programmes and services.

Role Responsibility

  • You’ll lead the outputs of the TV Licensing communications team in all areas of proactive, reactive, digital media relations and stakeholder relations
  • You’ll provide strategic handling advice to senior managers and stakeholders within TV Licensing and work closely with all elements of the BBC communications team to help communicate the value of the Licence Fee
  • You’ll build relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure you keep across business developments and ensure your team can communicate complex topics in a clear and concise way, to a range of audiences
  • You’ll provide day-to-day direction on tasks and campaigns for a team of senior communications managers, provide best practice advice and support the team’s career development
  • You’ll set and maintain high standards for your team and the wider communications team, including through the drafting of written briefings, press releases, blogs and articles

The Ideal Candidate

  • You’ll have substantial experience in media and stakeholder relations, preferably within a high-profile organisation in a fast-paced environment and working to tight deadlines
  • You’ll be able to demonstrate expertise in strategic media planning and evaluation, you’ll have led large-scale PR/comms campaigns and/or stakeholder programmes and have strong proactive and reactive media relations and crisis management skills
  • You’ll have excellent written skills and extensive experience of briefing senior stakeholders and journalists on complex issues
  • You’ll have a proven track record of management and leadership
