Peridot Engineering is a structural engineering consultancy established in 2020 in Christchurch. We are a specialised small consultancy, constantly engaged in various types of projects, including earthquake damaged house repairing, EQC claims and new building design. We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our small and friendly team based in Christchurch. If you enjoy working across an interesting range of projects, we would like to hear from you.

Qualifications & experience

• A NZ recognised degree in Structural Engineering (BE Civil specialising in structural engineering).
• Ideally previous experience as a Structural Engineer or similar field.
• Good communication ability (both written and verbal).
• Understanding New Zealand Building Codes and Standards (structural).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Good standard of computer literacy, including a sound ability to use Word, Excel, and MS Outlook to at least an intermediate level.
• Awareness of health and safety issues on site (building locations) .
• Full NZ Drivers License.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Structural assessment for residential buildings.
• Engineering design and calculations for structural repairs and new builds.
• Prepare reports, liaise with approving authorities and assist clients with the consenting process.
• Construction monitoring under supervision of senior engineers.
• Undertake geotechnical investigation and report as required.
