About the Team
The Office of the Chief Executive provides day-to-day executive support for the Chief Executive and serve as the central liaison for corporate services at Sydney Trains.
The opportunity
The Government Services Lead is responsible for the management and provision of Sydney Trains correspondence and briefings to the Office of the Minister for Transport and TfNSW Parliamentary Services. The role involves the provision of strategic insight and advice to address issues in cabinet submissions, parliamentary documents, ministerial correspondence and briefing notes. The Government Services Lead also provides strategic advice to the Chief Executive, Senior Managers and the agency in relation to ministerial correspondence and parliamentary documents.
Responsibilities include:
Providing day to day support to the Senior Manager, Business Services and Director, Office of the Chief Executive including document and briefing note preparation, meeting preparation and drafting of high level correspondence
Responding to ad hoc reporting and management requests to support decision-making and operational effectiveness, including the provision of high level advice in a fast moving operational environment
Reviewing a range of documents for quality assurance and follow up where clarity or repositioning is required
Undertaking research and review appropriate policies, including recommending and implementing changes, documenting new processes and procedures

About you
We’re seeking someone with demonstrated knowledge of the political landscape, public affairs, parliamentary processes and machinery of government, as well as strong experience in providing business and administration support with minimal supervision to executive management in a complex organisation.
The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience, as well as demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills to engage with, influence and build and maintain relationships with senior executives. Experience in managing government relations and ministerial correspondence is highly desirable.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is RC7 ($143,555 – $157,945) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
