As a NSW Government Agency, Sydney Metro has been tasked with developing and delivering metro railways and managing their operations. Sydney Metro also leads the development of vibrant station precincts to meet customer and community needs, transforming the way Sydney travels and helping shape the future of Australia’s largest city.
Sydney Metro operates under a matrix reporting model across functional and implementation groups, or project workstreams. The Government Coordination Manager reports directly to the Senior Manager, Government Business and sits within the Chief of Staff team as part of the Office of the Chief Executive.
The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptionally organised and detailed Government Reporting Manager to join us in the Office of the Chief Executive. The primary purpose of the role is to coordinate and lead projects to support the achievement of key milestones and deliver strong cross government relationships.
Working closely with the broader Chief of Staff team, the role manages organisational government engagement, reporting and cabinet functions, ensuring timely and quality input to support Ministerial, Cluster and whole of Government initiatives.
The role encompasses all aspects of infrastructure and project milestone reporting to government, including to Cabinet, the Transport cluster and Infrastructure NSW as assurance partner. The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping abreast of matters affecting Transport for NSW from both internal and external sources from a strategic perspective. Additionally, this role will be accountable for:
Managing a high volume of briefing requests, cabinet submissions and various reports in a high pressure and time-critical environment, providing high-level quality assurance and working with business areas to ensure information is accurate and meets requirements.
Coordinating support and briefing materials for the Chief Executive, Secretary and Ministers on key issues and in preparation for attendance at meetings, including Cabinet and Cabinet Committees.
Analysing complex and technical information, and its impacts on cluster priorities and writing and preparing advice material to tight deadlines.
Managing stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to ensure stakeholders are engaged and deliverables are met, including building and maintaining effective working relationships with Department Liaison Officers in Ministerial offices, colleagues in Transport for NSW and subject matter experts across Sydney Metro.
Identifying any sensitive or contentious issues early and escalating where necessary.

About you
As the Government Coordination Manager, you will have a strong understanding of State Government systems, policies, and practices. This role delivers program activities in a complex operating environment often under challenging circumstances, while balancing competing demands. As such, you will need to be an adaptable, highly organised, and collaborative individual with outstanding communication skills and high attention to detail.
