Come work in Central Otago, a world of difference. The giant vistas and huge skies certainly put you in your place. A very special place, at that. Understandably this place has shaped who we are and what we do.

Easy access to Queenstown and Wanaka, lakes during summer, ski fields during winter, mountain biking trails and a range of outdoor activities to suit families through to the extreme adventure seeker.

We are a flexible working, dog friendly and family orientated organisation that encourages its employees to develop and grow.

We have an exciting opportunity for an administrative guru to join our Governance team in the role of Governance Support Officer. This is a full-time permanent position based in Alexandra.

You will be responsible for supporting the effective democratic decision-making of the Council, it’s committees and the community boards. This position ensures elected members receive information for decision-making in a timely and structured way. Tasks include the provision of agendas, minutes and ensuring meetings are run well and according to standing orders, with a governance support focus.

As the successful applicant you will have:

  • 3 years’ experience working in an administrative role
  • experience in local government would be an advantage but is not essential
  • strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at various levels with proven relationship building experience
  • absolute discretion and the ability to maintain concentration and composure for lengthy periods
  • a need to understand relevant legislation and standing orders to ensure good governance is upheld
  • the ability to be a highly motivated team player who is well-organised and committed to providing excellent service
  • the ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy and meet deadlines
  • the ability to think on your feet and provide robust advice
  • a high level of proficiency in Microsoft applications
  • the ability to work independently and as part of a teamproven relationship building experience

In return the successful applicant will receive:

  • Competitive market remuneration
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Career development and training opportunities
  • A great working environment
  • Active organisation social club

So, if you enjoy a structured environment, being part of a team and have a sound understanding of various Microsoft applications, we would like to hear from you.
