The New Zealand Red Cross (NZRC) has approximately 500 staff and over 10,000 members nationwide, with the national office based in Wellington. This second-tier role is part of the newly reshaped NZRC leadership structure and requires the capacity to work collegially with executive peers to provide cohesive leadership for an organisation on a journey of positive change.
Reporting to the Secretary General, the General Manager Organisational Services is a key role within the organisation’s ELT, ensuring supporting services and enablers such as financial management and business operations support are effectively delivered to it’s internal clients. The broad range of enabling functions within organisational services include finance, property and asset management, technology, knowledge management, risk, security, business continuity, privacy and legal.
Ideally, you will offer the following experience and capabilities:
- Strong financial literacy and management experience gained in an operational environment
- Strong commercial acumen coupled with a pragmatic understanding of balancing operational efficiency with the requirements of a humanitarian organisation
- Ability to take a broad view of issues and understand their longer-term impact or broader implications
- Ability to facilitate inclusive business and planning processes and manage multiple operational work streams
- Experience in the development, implementation and review of policy, systems, and processes, ensuring that the organisation has the right information and enabling tools
- Experience leading through change, understanding how to utilise programme and project management methodology and communications as part of our transformation programme
