Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Student Learning Centre & Libraries, the i nc u mb e n t provides coordination of operations in the Student Learning Centre (SLC) . The SLC includes the Coaching Lab, Peer Tutoring program , Presentation Studio and Kiosk . These distinct services provide support to students in all AC full-time and part-time programs, in addition to many online programs by providing a review of the fundamentals of academic learning.

The Peer Tutoring program provides training to an average of approximately 400 student tutors per year, and supports approximately 1,500 students accessing tutoring approximately 15,000 appointments annually and t he Coaching Lab supports approximately 15 subject matter expert coaches, with 1,000 students accessing the service, for a total of approximately 2,200 appointments annually.

The incumbent provides analysis and redesign of current and new systems that enhance the student experience in the SLC , and application enhancements including the design, development, and assessments that will progress the usage and tutoring resources in the Peer Tutoring program and Coaching Lab. The incumbent provides coordination for the analysis and design of new techn ologies and/or processes that will enhance operations of the SLC.

The incumbent is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, evaluating , training and supporting the tutoring and coaching services offered in the SLC. Working collaboratively with college administrators, faculty, coordinators, students and staff, the incumbent will work to cultivate these unique services, which support the variety of programming offered through the college.

The incumbent will design and develop the appropriate training sessions using adult learning prin ciples for the following groups: student tutors , coaches and support staff that work in and/ or with the SLC . The training may include but is not limited to orientation to SLC databases and systems ; ensuring consistency of appointments, fees, and scheduling details; and any other processes connected to the maintenance, administration, and overall delivery of the individual systems.

The incumbent is also responsible for delivering orientation and onboarding sessions to coaches and other support staff that work in the SLC. The incumbent will develop and update appropriate guidelines related to tutor expectations based on collected knowledge and stakeholder feedback , and recommend any policy changes to the Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides guidance and leadership in the development and operations of the Student Learning Centre resources and initiatives that adhere to and are reflective of current college practices and student engagement needs;

Develops, maintains and provides operational and training support of the Student Learning Centre;

Supports student recruitment, outreach and engagement with internal and external stakeholders;

Finance and Project Management.

Required Qualifications:

4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education or related area;

Certificate in adult education is an asset;

Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a high demand client service environment;

Experience coordinating operations of a department in a post-secondary environment;

Training experience using adult learning principles to train, onboard, and orient clients to systems and/or processes and teaching adult learners;

Experience w orking with adult learners with demonstrated ability to improve academic success;

Experience synthesizing data and reports into appropriate information to inform opportunities to advance business practices and processes;

Experience communicating in a variety of mediums to a diverse clientele and presenting effectively to individuals in a range of areas;

Experience supporting the delivery of online and non-traditional learning services;

Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast paced environment;

Highly effective communication (oral and written), interpersonal and client skills;

Excellent analytical, time-management, and problem-solving skills;

Ability to resolve conflict at a variety of levels.
