Job Description
Working as part of a team of highly skilled engineers, supporting the operational & service requirements across the IT Consumer Estate working collaboratively across multiple engineering teams. Will ensure that the high standards required in terms of service are met and stability requirements adhered & delivered to. Will be involved in the push to drive Automation into Operational teams with a ultimate goals of leading to a zero touch operations.

What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities
- Playing a part in Technology strategy using operations driven design/development and SRE practices to improve service. Removing legacy in-life issues and improving quality and stability of new product launches.
- Working with Service Assurance to ensure effective monitoring, and alerting on all interfaces (system and user), queues and jobs to give early warning of issues before they become service impacting or Customers, Consumer or other Technical teams tell us
- Helping to define and then drive Transformation Opportunities
- Build upon working relationships with our Strada partners within ASG functions
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with multiple teams across Consumer engineering
- Focussing on service quality and reliability contributing to increased customer satisfaction
- Contribute to EOSL by managing the removal of legacy systems and estate.
- Drive improvements to system reliability and non functional maturity.ÂÂ
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, striving to improve process and automation to reduce TOIL
- System performance and capacity management
- Working with SRE Specialists to identify Automation Opportunities to reduce all manual interventions
- Working with SRE on opportunities for  adoption of ML/AI Opportunities
- Driving a culture of change across design, development and ASG teams focussing on reporting, automation, self-healing and simplified deployments in the operational estate,

Skills required for the job
- A bachelor\'s degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology, information systems, computer engineering, or similar.
- Advanced knowledge of front-end and back-end programming languages, such as Java, C++, Javascript, Python, and Ruby.
- Working knowledge of SQL Databases & basic network configuration.
- Working knowledge of security and regulatory standards such as GDPR, ICOFR, ISO27000 etc and their impacts on the operational environment.
- Working Knowledge of IT Hardware and Software.
- Ability to learn and master employer-specific software.
- Ability to manage code migration, document configuration changes, and monitor performance.
- Experience in standard IT Hardware equipment, deployment
- Experience in development of application level monitoring tools – knowledge of externally available tools like Dynatrace, AppDynamics, ELK and Splunk.
- DevOps Tooling Skills
- Source Control (like GitLab, Bitbucket, SVN, VSTS etc)
- Continuous Integration (like Jenkins, Bamboo, VSTS )
- Infrastructure Automation (like Puppet, Chef, Ansible)
- Automated Unit Testing – (NPM, JUnit, NUnit)
- Automated Static Code Analysis –( SonarQube, Structure101,)
- Security Scan – NexusIQ
- Packaging and Repository Management (Nexus)
- Continuous Deployment Automation & Orchestration (Ansible Tower)
- Container Concepts (LXD, Docker)
