Job Description

Reward Consultant
Up to £45,000 plus benefits (Work Level 6A)
Manchester city centre
We’re now working in a hybrid way, with colleagues dividing their time between home/remote working and the office. You can find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy

We’re looking for a reward consultant to join us and help support the design and delivery of proactive reward solutions that enhance our Co-op’s ability to attract, retain and develop talented colleagues.

In this role, you’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across the Co-op, providing advice and support on reward policy and practices, such as job evaluation, benchmarking, salary modelling, and salary change administration. You’ll also complete detailed and complex analysis to resolve reward challenges and to inform decision making. If you can bring us the HR or reward knowledge we need, we can offer you a fantastic opportunity to influence the change agenda and help shape the future of our business.

What you’ll do

• work with reward managers and people coaches to provide advice and guidance on the reward policy and practices using market data and supportive analysis
• lead on design and implementation of small-scale change projects
• support on medium or large-scale changes, taking ownership for elements of the overall deliverable
• make sure we’re up to date and compliant with changes in legislation
• represent reward on the job evaluation panel
• drive a focus on continuous improvement in all aspects of reward delivery

This role would suit people who have

• existing HR knowledge or reward experience
• good communication skills with the ability to communicate technical subject matter to a non-technical audience to build engagement and understanding
• advanced Excel skills (complex models and formulas), with the ability to deal with large volumes of data and to manipulate that data to identify issues and trends
• the ability to think creatively, and work with a range of people to develop innovative reward solutions
• experience with salary benchmarking
• training, knowledge, or exposure to job evaluation (Korn Ferry Hay methodology preferred)

Why Co-op?

Here you’ll do work that matters. We’re a commercial organisation with a purpose beyond profit, you’ll have an opportunity to help us build a stronger Co-op and stronger communities. You’ll also get a package that includes:

• competitive salary
• coaching, training and support to help you develop
• pension with up to 10% employer contributions
• annual incentive scheme
• Wagestream - a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
• 28 days holiday (rising to 32 in line with service)
• discounts on Co-op products and services
