The opportunity
We are excited to announce that we are offering a full-time permanent opportunity for the role of Planning Approvals Officer to join our Planning Approvals team.
This role’s primary purpose is to provide support for the preparation and review of environmental planning and post-approval planning documentation and approval procedures, systems and guidelines for Sydney Metro projects.
Partnering with stakeholders within Sydney Metro and external stakeholders to coordinate approvals you will:
- prepare planning approvals, environmental assessment and post-planning approval documentation that meet the statutory requirements of the Environment Planning and Assessment Act (1979) and other relevant legislation, address the interests of stakeholders and meet project and budget constraints
- Review environmental impact assessment documents, including Environmental Impact Statements and modifications prepared under Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act to ensure compliant documentation
- Participate in community consultation and stakeholder engagement processes associated with environmental impact assessments to capture issues raised by the community or stakeholders
- Develop and maintain systems in relation to planning approvals to support best practice across the organisation and ensure contract, regulatory and licence compliance and project planning approvals
- Provide environmental and planning approval advice and recommendations to ensure continuous improvement across Sydney Metro
About you
- You will have tertiary qualifications in planning, environmental management, engineering or a related field.
- Sound knowledge and experience in the preparation of environmental assessments relating to the design, delivery and operations of major development or infrastructure projects.
- You will have some understanding knowledge of all approvals aspects of the Environment, Planning and Assessment Act (1979), the NSW planning system, other NSW environmental legislation and associated statutory processes
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills and be collaborative and solutions focused with stakeholder management skills.
- A forensic eye for detail and able to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
- Adaptable to change, possessing a resilient, challenge and growth mindset.
Salary and benefits
This role is offered at Transport Grade 7 $108,770 - $121, 822 plus superannuation.
