As Legal Counsel you will be responsible for providing legal support and advice for the Retail, Consumer, Automotive and Grocery businesses within the GL Australia Division (the Businesses) consistent with and Toll’s values of Integrity & Trust, Safety, Continuous Improvement, Teamwork and Being open & transparent.
This will include reviewing, negotiating, and drafting on a range of commercial agreements for the various customer and supplier contracts.
This role can be based in Sydney or Brisbane.
The Role
- Provide quality and timely legal support to the various functions under the direction of the Managing Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel
- Autonomously review, negotiate and draft contracts, in line with Toll’s preferred positions
- Actively support and work closely with the various business units to delivery key strategic initiatives
- Work closely with the Businesses and understand the requirements in the service industry when considering legal issues
- Actively support the strategies, initiatives and processes outlined by the SLC and LC to drive the achievement of legal objectives for the Businesses
- Ensure corporate governance rules and processes are complied with
- Contribute to wider Toll Group legal projects including training clients and legals technology operations
- Work autonomously, accepting and actively managing multiple matters with competing deadlines and complexity
- Support workload of other lawyers within the Global Logistics - Australia legal team as needed
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 2-4 years' post qualification experience
- Experience in a broad range of general commercial agreements including drafting, negotiating, and settling contracts
- Experience leading negotiations and driving outcomes in a range of transactions of varying complexity
- Experience in leading through to completion face-to-face negotiations
- Experience in the oil and gas, marine, mining or defence industries, servicing major corporations and/or government clients; would be considered very valuable
- Degree in Law
