About this Role 

As a Software Developer you’ll be part of a cross-functional Agile Scrum team, collaborating closely with product owners to deliver valuable features and enhancements in regular iterations.  

You’ll play an active role in refining requirements and designing solutions that meet the needs of our business, and get regular feedback from stakeholders to inform the next stage of development. 

To ensure your applications perform as expected, your team makes use of unit, integration and automation tests, backed up by live performance monitoring - and when things don’t go to plan you will provide third line support for those applications. 

In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to policies, standards and processes used by the team and proactively share your technical knowledge by providing coaching and training in your areas of expertise. 

You will regularly be afforded time to keep up to date with the latest developments in the IT industry and apply industry best practice to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the department.

Responsibilities  

  • Contribute to the design and delivery of projects. 

  • Investigate and resolve problems.  

  • Take part in planning, estimation and prioritisation.  

  • Develop the processes and standards set by the team. 

  • Continuously improve the quality of our applications.  

  • Peer review the work of other team members.  

  • Share knowledge through documentation and presentations. 

 

Skills 

Mandatory 

  • Java 

  • MySQL 

  • TDD (Test Driven Development) 

  • Continuous integration 

  • Git source control 

Desirable 

  • Oracle 

  • Pair Programming 

  • Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) 

  • Knowledge of AGILE/SCRUM 

  • PHP
