AMD networking group deliver Data Center Networking silicon and software– including SmartNICs for hyperscale cloud deployments and low-latency adapters for financial services and machine learning applications. We're changing the way operating systems, applications and the hardware interact to allow computer networks to be faster, more responsive and more reliable. Our architectural approach combines hardware and software to deliver high-performance adapter products and application-acceleration middleware for superior performance in a wide range of applications.

We are expanding the software team who develop our OpenOnload application middleware. OpenOnload is a kernel bypass network solution providing an accelerated TCP/IP network stack which is dynamically linked into an application’s address space and granted direct access to accelerated network hardware.

The Onload stack is comprised of multiple Linux kernel modules, interfacing with Linux network stack and working on a high performance in-house TCP/IP protocol stack and sockets layer

This role would suit a graduate who wants to progress a career in software but whose current software experience is limited to scripting in languages such as Python.

In this role you will work as part of the Onload software development team focussing on continuous integration, devops and directed testing. You will develop your software skills by developing new test cases using both C and Python, investigating test failures, extending test automation and pipelines. You will learn fast from a high calibre team and learn to work effectively as part of large software team, gaining broad and deep knowledge of new technology.

To be successful you will have the ability to quickly understand complex networking and system software. You will be able to tackle engineering problems and demonstrate software design skills.

Key responsibilities:

• Extend and maintain test automation infrastructure and pipelines
• Develop new and extend existing test cases and capabilities in both Python and C
• Participate in team processes to help define design, requirements and work breakdown
• Be an active contributor in peer code reviews
• Develop test specifications

Preferred experience:

• Experience of python or other scripting languages
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills
• Experience of Linux systems
