Job Description
The Electrocardiogram (ECG) Technician uses specialized equipment to record cardiac activity of patients to aid in the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of heart disease. The ECG Technician provides initial analysis and test results to physicians for use in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions.
The ECG Technician provides high quality, safe, effective and evidence-based care in partnership with patients and families, in accordance with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists professional standards and GGH’s mission, vision, values and policies.Â

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Current certification with Ontario Society of Cardiac Technologists, preferred
- Cardiovascular Technology Diploma (or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year current experience performing ECG’s
- Current BCLS
- Demonstrated competence in 12 lead ECG interpretation
- Demonstrated knowledge of ECG principles
- Demonstrated organizational abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with respect to the provision of full ECG services
- Computer processing skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Physically capable of manoeuvring and pushing ECG cart
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
