Sydney Metro, a NSW Government statutory authority has been tasked with developing and delivering metro railways, and managing their operations. Sydney Metro also leads the development of vibrant station precincts to meet customer and community needs, transforming the way Sydney travels and helping shape the future of Australia’s largest city.
The opportunity
The primary purpose of this role is to provide overarching guidance and direction for the strategic management, coordination and reporting of all third party interface activities required to support completion and delivery of the Sydney Metro City and Southwest project. This will include leading and strategically managing the extensive interfaces and liaison between Sydney Metro City and Southwest and various groups both internally and externally to achieve project cost, schedule and scope targets.
The role will work with councils, industry, government agenciesproject teams and community stakeholder groups to realise Metro’s vision for a seamless transition from development to delivery and into operation. The role will also be responsible for managing the relationship and coordination of activities on behalf of all Sydney Metro with Sydney Trains and the Transport Asset Holding Entity (TAHE).
As Director Interface Management, you will be expected to:
- Collaborate across the Sydney Metro projects to promote a consistent approach to interface management and key stakeholder relationships.
- Lead activities and associated interactions with Sydney Trains and the Transport Asset Holding Entity (TAHE) on behalf of all of Sydney Metro, including the City and Southwest project.
- Lead the activities of the Interface Management team and provide project level strategic advice to the City and Southwest Project Director and project leadership team in relation to interface management activities, including rail infrastructure operations and operational impacts.
- Lead strategic input into the management of third party and contract interfaces and risks to ensure that they are effectively identified and managed.
- Lead the management of a project-wide interface definition and management framework to promote consistency in planning and implementation of interface activities and to provide direction to the interface management team.
- Lead the development of systems and processes to coordinate reporting of interface management activities across the project to provide status reports, communication and a single source of information for project management.
- Oversee and lead the liaison activities between the project and infrastructure agencies, government organisations and other significant parties to ensure that all technical, design and construction planning issues are effectively resolved.
- Lead escalation of key interface management issues to the project leadership team when required.
- Lead a collaborative approach across the organisation and other project delivery groups, to facilitate the planning and delivery of interface works ensuring all issues are clearly understood by teams and addressed.
- Provide project level advice to contribute to the development of program schedules, budgets and risk plans and reports as required to support project objectives.
- Manage the City and Southwest interface management team resources and budget
- Manage the Sydney Metro allocated budgets for Sydney Trains and TAHE
About you
- You will have demonstrated knowledge of issues and risks that could impact the delivery of a major infrastructure project in relation to the management of key interfaces and stakeholders.
- You will have demonstrated knowledge of issues and risk associated with delivering a rail infrastructure project in a brownfields environment.
- You will have experience successfully resolving issues in situations commonly involving a range of stakeholders with different views and perspectives.
- You will have experience working in a complex and challenging delivery environment.
- You will have demonstrated experience building collaborative relationships across a wide variety of stakeholders.
- You will have experience working in a rapidly changing project environment.
- You will have experience setting strategy, particularly strategic operational priorities around interface management.
- You have detailed understanding of the planning, procurement and delivery phases of a major infrastructure project.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
