Would you like to use your skills to help change children's lives?
We have an exciting opportunity to join Barnardo's Company Secretary team as Assistant Company Secretary. The Company Secretary team enables the smooth functioning of Barnardo's governance at the Board level and thereby the effective delivery of our mission and vision.
From strategic advice on charity governance to ensuring effective follow up of key actions, you will work with Trustees and senior leaders across all parts of the charity. You will help run the business of the Board and Committee meetings, from the setting of strategic agendas to the timely provision of core information to inform effective decision-making at the highest level of the charity. Finally you will support the Trustees from their induction on appointment to when they move on, ensuring that they are provided with the information and training they need to discharge their role and maximise their contribution to Barnardo's work. This role will appeal to someone who likes a mixture of structured work (secretarial aspects) with the opportunity to initiate/support new projects.
We know that our colleagues go above and beyond in delivering our vital work, driven by their passion and commitment to Barnardo's values. We also know that we can only realise our ambitions and achieve better outcomes for more children, thanks to the talent, hard work and creativity of our people.
For all these reasons, we are committed to a new approach to pay and reward, to ensure it is fair, attractive and progressive, which should be in place by 1st April 2023. This is a positive change for the charity, and a key pillar of our People & Culture Strategy. It will assist us in supporting colleagues to grow and develop in their career at Barnardo's.
