Responsibilities

The Analytical Support Division is seeking an Advanced Chemist for its Process Analytics Department located in Kingsport, Tennessee.  The selected individual for this position will provide Process Analyzer support to assigned operating areas and global business platforms by identifying needs as well as designing, installing, and maintaining analyzer systems utilizing a variety of technologies.


A sampling of responsibilities includes:

  • Providing direction to a working sub-team consisting of a Control System Technician and Utility Operator.
  • Establishing strong working relationships with operating area personnel such as area managers, staff engineers, operators, and more.
  • Acquire and utilize key process information to then specify the appropriate analyzer system for the application.
  • Coordinate the installation of the system with multiple organizations.
  • Document the procedures associated with safe and reliable operation of the system, as well as technical reports and training documentation.
  • Assist with training the Process Instrument Analysts for ongoing maintenance of the system.
  • Perform more complex troubleshooting in the event of a system failure necessitating differentiated expertise. 

Qualifications  

  • Chemistry or chemical engineering degree preferred and generally most suitable, with a coinciding mechanical aptitude being highly beneficial.  BS through PhD degrees can qualify depending on specifics of educational and work experience.
  • 3 years minimum work experience, 5 preferred.
  • General attributes/skills necessary include:
  • Commitment to personal safety and that of the greater team.
  • Technical competence in the specialized field of Process Analytics.
  • Capable of effectively managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to lead and influence others.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
