Robert Half has an opening for a Full Charge Bookkeeper that might be just what you're looking for. Based in North Vancouver, British Columbia, the Full Charge Bookkeeper role is a long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity. The most successful candidate for this position will be able to establish and maintain the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives, as well as handle all general accounting and bookkeeping functions, including the preparation of financial statements.

Major responsibilities

- Preparing depreciation schedules by tracking fixed assets

- Handling processing tasks for accounts payable and accounts receivable, including collections

- Filing documents to maintain historical records

- Completing bank and general ledger reconciliations; processing payroll

- Managing accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers

- Ensuring correct and punctual monthly, quarterly and year end close

- Putting together the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement

- Studying and implementing federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing reports, and communicating with management on needed actions

Requirements

- Prior experience with Excel, Quickbooks, and Peachtree

- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

- Wide ranging experience with Microsoft Excel

- Well-founded grasp of Journal Entry

- Bank reconciliations experience preferred

- Accounts Payable (AP) experience required

- Complete Expense Reports experience

- Quality experience with Financial Statement

- Proven knowledge of Canadian Payroll

- General familiarity with Journal Entry Preparation

- Deltek experience

- Practical knowledge of general ledger

- Strong familiarity with Accounts Receivable (AR)

- High school diploma or equivalent, AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred

- Knowledgeable of accrual and cash basis of accounting

- Aptitude for analyzing financial data and generating accurate reports in a timely manner

- Highly organized, attentive, has a sense of urgency, flexible and able to deal with frequent interruptions and changing priorities

- Experience with payroll preferred

- Be creative, adaptive, and eager to learn new technical skill sets

- 5+ years of experience in the bookkeeping field

- Be able to prioritize workload and perform in a fast-paced and challenging environment
