Job Description

Delivers results through tracking performance, orchestrating the rhythm of the business, executing financial processes, and determining actionable insights. Directs all aspects of our Small, Medium & Corporate (SMC) business to drive outcomes, return on investment, and resource optimization. Develops financial budgets and forecasts with business partners, supporting resource prioritization and allocation, as well as operational plans and strategies. Manages financial systems, financial controls, and business controls and audit support required to maintain reporting requirements. Supports and leads compliance culture and processes.

 

Role Priorities:

Leverage WCB Finance for business insights on SMCC & SMB 

Drive SMC resource allocation, including local incentives

Be a Champion of Compliance

Deliver business performance objectives

Drives centralized Budget and Financial Process at Area level

Leads and proactively develop Area and WW communities

Responsibilities

Prioritize

Performs and reviews analysis of present and future financial performance, financial plans (e.g., expected returns, resource allocation, pricing, investment opportunities) and economic transactions (e.g., customer deals, commercial partnerships, acquisitions, etc.). Prepares and summarizes recommendations.

Works directly with business partners to translate top-down targets to an accountable budget for each group. Completes and reviews analysis, modeling, and research to support preliminary and adjusted forecast cycles. Partners and solicits insight from business and commercial stakeholders.

Delivers results through tracking performance, report accuracy, and partnering with business leaders to ensure execution of plans and accountability for results. Manages the rhythm of the business for area of responsibility including monthly close, recurring business review preparation, and budgeting. Generates relevant and actionable insights to drive the business forward.

Develops and leverages relationships with customers and partners to bolster sales, and to understand and manage business risk. Collects customer feedback data and applies data analysis techniques to improve customer experience. Builds strong relationships with customers at senior levels. Designs and negotiates solutions to complex financial issues with customers. Engages with customers and partners on their wider relationships with Microsoft. Serves as advocate for Microsoft and its customers. Understands customers' businesses to plan growth. Manages balance between customer centricity, enablement of sales, and cost effectiveness.

Partnership

Shares business insights and advances solutions and action plans to drive business and commercial leader goals and short-term accountabilities. Provides credible insights into industry benchmarks and consumer trends, performance improvements, and growth. Facilitates to resolve complex issues. Manages and executes processes through engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

Applies understanding of the broader Microsoft context to offer solutions to ensure organizational objectives are met. Develops and manages strategies to proactively mitigate, or reactively address, potential adverse effects of macroeconomic and/or geopolitical risks. Articulates a comprehensive view of financial results and approaches leaders can implement based on deep understanding of business partner and counterpart work context and situation. Considers competing views and alterative solutions when formulating recommendations for financial plans and forecasts.

Conceptualizes and designs new approaches to how financial data is collected and evaluated to impact future outcomes and decisions.

Drives improvements in data management through automation. Applies understanding of advanced technology to accomplish business goals and to provide greater depth of analysis.

Understands the interconnections between data, information, and results and translates this into forward looking narratives and forecasts. Provides clarity and alignment with senior leaders. Implements creative ways to show patterns and draw conclusions to help drive decisions and clearly communicate findings. Generates actionable plans based on complex results, ambiguous findings, and multi-year time horizons. Articulates understanding and awareness of business partner situation.

Protect

Drives the right tone from executive leadership and ensures strict adherence and understanding of Microsoft policies on risk and compliance. Influences leadership to ensure compliance is a top priority and modeled throughout the organization.  Drives a compliant culture through actions and decisions to instill trust. Advocates, educates, and promotes best practices and new developments.  Encourages asking questions and identifying risks to compliance. Champions Microsoft privacy, security, and ethical standards. Advances key compliance initiatives.

Key Accountabilities and objectives:

Revenue Planning & Forecasting

Drive centralized SMC Planning & Forecasting leveraging standard tools (CP)

Partner with SMC Leads+Digital Sales Lead to land forecast accuracy

Support the Customer Segmentation process (Lead: BSO)

Insights on Business Performance

Leverage Analytical Frameworks to provide insights on business performance and opportunities to accelerate growth.

Articulate insights on SMB motions/customer segments

Partner with SMC & DS Leads and DS Finance to drive business reviews

Return on investment

Support the blueprint and headcount landing of the SMC resources

Monitor SMC investments and assess productivity and impact of these funds

Leverage Investment/Financial controllers on OPEX rigor and ROI

Leadership & Compliance

Be a Champion a Compliance – Tone at the Top, Anticorruption

Contribute and drive thought leadership across SMC Finance community

Critical Indicators of Success

Forecast Accuracy and Collaboration with Digital Sales

Insights on Business performance (adds, white space, consumption, engagements)

ROB and Process simplification – give back time to sellers

Continue to balance the effort on Area focus vs subregion details

Insights to drive improve productivity and opportunity to accelerate growth

Positively Influence business leaders and have a seat at the table

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience

OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience

OR equivalent experience.

10+ years of overall finance experience
