We're the financial engine room of Wellington City Council - and we're looking for a motivated, enthusiastic person to join our Business Partnering team as a Finance Business Analyst

The role

You'll be providing effective management accounting and business partnering services to your business unit, acting as a trusted partner, providing accurate and reliable information and insights which allows them to monitor performance and make robust strategic decisions. You'll support the delivery of their operational and strategic goals, challenge assumptions and influence important pieces of work for our capital city.

This role will partner with our City Housing unit, who provide a critical contribution in meeting our social outcome goals. They are currently undergoing some exciting changes that you'll be part of.

Our Finance Business Analysts:

• Develop and maintain effective business partnerships with Business Units
• Act as a trusted advisor to Business Units, supporting budget holders to plan effectively
• Own the month end process and performance reporting for their portfolio
• Provide financial insight and challenge for Business Units in order for them to develop business initiatives in an informed and financially sustainable way
• Proactively identify business and financial issues and risks
• Providing training, guidance and assistance to Business Units

About you

We're looking for someone who is adaptable, and who can think of the bigger picture.

As well as having the technical skills, you'll have an ability to communicate with people at all levels of financial understanding - and you'll know how to pitch your message depending on your audience. You will be able to convey complex technical information in a way that can be understood and be adept at building meaningful relationships, quickly.

You don't need specific government sector experience - just the ability to work self-sufficiently and own your portfolio.

You'll be given the freedom and responsibility to manage you own Business Unit, with support from your manager and other Business Analysts on your team
