We have a great opportunity for a Fencer General to join Waipuna Farm in the Te Anau basin. You’ll be joining a team of two so as well as being a good all-round fencer you be called on to help out with other farm tasks so flexibility is key.
The role involves carrying out new and repair fencing requirements as well as general farm maintenance work, tractor work, and some yard work.
The farm is currently undergoing a large scale development project with plenty of subdivision, water works and regrassing.
This role can be tailored to suit any successful applicant with plenty of scope within the job description. This is a great opportunity to stamp your name on an evolving farm or develop your skills on a wide range of work.
Waipuna Farm is on 600 ha effective flat to rolling country near Mossburn (primary school, secondary school is in Te Anau or Lumsden), running approx.
1800 Romney ewes and 500 bulls. 450 bulls are finished as a yearling and 50 taken through a second winter. All stock are all grass wintered.
It’s located 10 minutes from Mossburn, 40 minutes from Te Anau, and 90 minutes from Queenstown and Invercargill. Outdoor activities abound with great hunting and fishing, plus a rugby club at Mossburn.
The key things we’re looking for include the ability to work by yourself or as part of a team, a good set of fencing skills and knowledge of using associated plant, good communication skills and a current New Zealand full driver’s licence.
