The National Army Museum Te Mata Toa plays an important role in telling the story of, and protecting and caring for, Aotearoa New Zealand's unique military heritage and its contribution to society by:
This vitally important role, working alongside the Collections and Exhibitions Manager, has the responsibility of development, design, production, installation and de-installation of museum projects, external exhibitions, displays in support of the Museum's exhibition plan.
It is also responsible for the maintenance of the Museum's existing displays.
The role has one direct report, Exhibitions Technician who will assist you with your responsibilities.
NgÄ pÅ«kenga me ngÄ wheako | Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role ideally you will have a minimum three years' experience in the area of exhibition project management, design, fabrication and installation, or related trade experience (joinery or building)
You will have experience in preparing plans and detailed drawings for exhibitions, an understanding of spatial design, scale and construction.
A sound understanding of health and safety legislation and practice, especially hazard management as it applies to museum exhibitions.
You will also be a supportive leader as you coach and mentor the Technician that reports to you, as well as other Museum staff so they can all learn from your skills and expertise.
There is a requirement to work a maximum of 7 weekends a year for which you will be well compensated for.
