The Workplace and F.A.S.T applications are key to the alternative resource scheduling roadmap lead by Technology Group, which will look to deliver significant business benefits and reduce risk within the scheduling environment. The alternative resource scheduling approach will seek to invest in our legacy systems, rationalise landscape, prioritise fixes and upgrades to improve functionality and crucially ensure resilience, business continuity and service transition. It will simplify ways of working in line with appropriate governance and compliance, whilst introducing intuitive processes and improved functionality which is key for successful scheduling.

F.A.S.T is a suite of integrated applications which delivers scheduling and payroll functionally for News and Engineering Ops. (F.A.S.T consists of, Feed Files, Allocate, ScheduALL, Teampay).

WorkPlace Resource Scheduling & Management system is a business application, used for leave & absence and resource scheduling, with approx. 12,000 end users from BBC News, BBC Nations & Regions and some BBC Production departments. The application comprises 3 parts; Web kiosk which allows staff to book leave and absence, and view their rota, Workplace which allows managers to approve leave and absence, and schedule resources and Discoverer Viewer which allows staff to run reports.

 

Role Responsibility:

 

As the Executive Product Manager for Resource Scheduling at the BBC, you will own the Resource Scheduling Roadmap as well as having Executive Product level responsibility for the Workplace and F.A.S.T suite of applications. You will work with the business, team members, other Technology Group colleagues and others to design and implement solutions in line with the Roadmap as well as shape and implement service design and transition deliverables to ensure smooth transition of newly delivered solutions into service.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the existing scheduling landscape sitting within D+E ensuring that they are fit for purpose and continue to deliver against the business requirements. This includes managing a product and delivery team for Technology Group supported scheduling systems.
  • Being instrumental in the delivery of the Allocate 7 and Workplace Replatform projects.
  • Building close working relationships with all the key business stakeholders within the divisions including HR.
  • Designing and implementing a service design and transition plan for systems with the Service Delivery Team.
  • Being the Executive Product Manager for the strategic solutions which includes working with key editorial, commercial and technical stakeholders to design and deliver the required products, measure success, lead the prioritisation process and the creation and maintenance of the ongoing roadmap.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in a Resource Scheduling management\Digital applications or having worked on high-profile transformational technology and change programmes.
  • Experience of ownership and delivery within technical\digital environment.
  • Ability to learn new software to drive the resource scheduling strategy, including service delivery teams to ensure that they meet business requirements and continue to evolve and improve.
  • Advanced relationship management skills, including a track record of collaboration and influence
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels in an organisation
  • Understanding service management best practise, agile methodology and product governance for supporting business critical applications.
  • Experience of managing a 3rd line technical support team, service management and supplier management desirable.
  • An enthusiasm for working at the BBC
