Ethical Trade & Environmental Sustainability (ET/ES) Operations: We aim to deliver amazing fashion at amazing prices to Primark customers, whilst maintaining the highest levels of rigour, protecting the people who make our products, ensuring social, environmental and structural compliance. Purpose of role: This role will lead the cross-functional development and implementation of policies, tools and procedures that collectively govern the environmental compliance program and elevate supplier performance. In addition, this role will establish & manage internal processes for collecting and reporting on program performance across compliance and other impact areas.
Reports to: Head of Environmental Sustainability
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance
Lead the day-to-day management of the Primark environmental compliance program.
Ensure that policies, standards and tools used to govern the compliance programme support the broader environmental strategy
Responsible for ensuring that policies are kept up to date and that approaches are measurable, considering data collection and performance management.
Create an effective communication programme for releasing updated tools and policies to the global supply base
Ensure that Primark’s programme is aligned to industry best practice and tools
Reporting
Drive a culture of data-driven decision making across the environmental team and influence its use across the business.
Work to develop a coordinated approach to collecting, analysing and reporting on supply chain compliance and our Primark Cares sustainability targets
Act as central point of contact for all Environmental KPIs, supporting business decisions and all external reporting frameworks
Monitoring / Solutions
Creates and provides monthly performance reports, as a minimum.
Elevates issues according to internal process and ensures remediation actions are taken
Supports continuous improvement of supplier/facility performance metrics and their communication (internally and externally)
Works with in-country teams to review supplier performance and risk
Team Management
Manages direct reports (1) and identifies future resourcing needs as required
Acts on behalf of the ES team in communications where appropriate, representing team strategy
Supports management of the Quartley team meeting & ad-hoc tasks
Manages 1x environmental assistant, with broad accountabilities for environmental team support, inclusive of contracting, invoicing and payment support
Internal Engagement
Direct point of contact for internal teams on compliance and environmental sustainability reporting
Key point of contact for suppliers regarding compliance programs (in collaboration with regional teams)
Delivers training and engagement on relevant topics
Engages across all departments and levels with confidence and gravitas
Coordinates internal and external engagement on relevant topics
External Stakeholder Engagement
Active engagement within ZDHC, SAC, Textile Exchange, Leather Working Group, and others, where appropriate
Assists in shaping the future of industry tools, such as SAC HIGG FEM
Manages relevant topics with contractors and service providers
Reporting & Data
Establishes and maintains a robust approach to tracking and reporting on program performance.
Continues to refine data analytics and reporting to improve program performance
Track and report data on programme initiatives, streamlining data into central systems
Ensures security of data and integrity of information used and shared
Performs ad-hoc reporting for Primark’s Communications/Reporting and ABF as required
Knowledge & Experience:
Qualified in Sustainability, Environmental Science or other relevant area to degree level (BSc/MSc); further qualifications desired
Demonstrable knowledge of using data to drive decision making, with an awareness of sustainability and compliance platforms, such as Higg Co.
Good industry knowledge, particularly supply chain
Project management and leadership skills
Excellent organisation, communication, administration and IT skills
Strong experience of industry initiatives

Ensuring the day-to-day roll-out and coordination of the Environmental Compliance Program
Facilitating engagement of both internal and external stakeholders directly and/or indirectly associated with the programme
Ensuring transparency of program performance using clear reporting tools

Primark Buying, Sourcing and Compliance Teams, Environmental Managers, Global Ethical Trade Team, Primark Suppliers/Facilities and external stakeholders
