The opportunity
The Environment & Sustainability Regional Assets and Operations Team, South, within SER is accountable for Environment & Sustainability policy, practice and support to programs, projects and operations for an extensive construction and operational maintenance program in the South region. The team provide environmental leadership, strategic direction and technical guidance. It enables innovation and effective solutions across all environment and sustainability outcomes for our customers, people and the community. You will provide technical advice and expertise to our construction and maintenance teams, delivery partners, environment regulatory agencies and the community. You will report to the Environment and Sustainability Manager South West.
This role is a four-year contract on a full-time basis, based in the South region, with a preferred primary location of Wagga Wagga. You will work within a small team of Environmental specialists that service that part of the state. The role will require you to operate in an autonomous manner in remote areas of the region and will involve overnight travel.
You will be responsible for providing expert advice and assistance to staff and TfNSW contractors on a range of environmental management, compliance, planning and assessment requirements. This will ensure TfNSW achieves required Government environmental outcomes and meets the expectations of the community of NSW.

About you
You will have demonstrated ability in monitoring and evaluating environmental performance. You can provide constructive advice and guidance to identify risks and improve environmental outcomes in the planning, delivery and operational phases of construction and maintenance activity.
You will have strong problem solving and negotiating skills, with experience in managing a variety of stakeholders. You will have the ability to prioritise your work under pressure. You have relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, environmental management, environment planning, engineering or a related discipline.
Salary and benefits
The salary for this position is Grade 6 ($94,879) – ($104,367) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
