Job Description

The opportunity

 

Environment & Sustainability is a branch within SER accountable for Environment & Sustainability policy, practice and support to programs, projects and operations. Reporting to the Environment and Sustainability Manager (Rail Development & Delivery Sydney), the role will ensure Rail Projects, programs and operations are compliant and achieve required environment and sustainability outcomes with minimal impacts to local communities. 

 

The team consists of highly experienced environmental officers and managers who work across a broad range of projects supporting the Rail Development & Delivery portfolio. The work is varied and always interesting from simple track reconstructions, station upgrades to highly complex rail infrastructure projects. This gives you a unique opportunity to work on a project from the very initial stages of concept design review right through to project delivery where you will have the opportunity to guide the project to achieve the best possible environmental outcomes.

 

As an Environment & Sustainability Officer, you will assist in the preparation and/or review of project environmental impact assessments including EIA Checklists and REFs, and review of CEMPs and other environmental & sustainability documents. You will provide support and advice to project teams, contractors and other stakeholders on best practice environmental management and sustainability matters during project delivery.

 

Whilst the role is primarily office based, there will be a requirement to attend site on a regular basis.

About you

 

You will have some planning approvals, environmental management and/or sustainability experience in complex operating environments associated with infrastructure projects or rail maintenance: 

 

  • You will need to have sound MS, Excel and Word skills.
  • There is transport available to get to sites, you shall require a driver’s licence.
  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental management, sustainability management or practice, planning, engineering or a related experience or discipline is required for this role.

 

 

Salary and Benefits
