Engineering Delivery Manager

'Future' is the name for the programme that will see Asda create their new operating model, independent from Walmart.  Technology will undoubtedly be one of the most ambitious parts of this work where all of the technology decisions made will underpin the way the entire business will operate in the future. To enable this programme, the technology operating model will be transitioned to become self-sufficient from Walmart offering so many exciting opportunities.

Your Role

• Work in the design phase of multiple projects to identify the need for, and scale of application conversion and re-platforming activities
• Create a demand profile of work that can be used for resource planning purposes
• Using the demand profile, create and size a plan of activities over the next 30, 60,and 90 days, improving accuracy as activities draw closer
• Working with Project Managers, take accountability for the delivery of all application build and test activities
• Work with our Service Providers to plan and deliver engineering build and test activities, to required cost, time and quality constraints
• Assist our Service Providers with build and test activities, removing any blockers that pose a risk to project cost or timeline
• Facilitate technical conversations between suppliers, service providers and internal teams whenever required
• Constantly monitor the performance of our Service Provider build teams, working to improve efficiency and lower cost

About You

• Strong organisation skills with a proven ability to plan resources based upon a demand pipeline
• Although not a hands-on technical role, knowledge of software engineering techniques and technologies is highly desirable
• Familiar with modern cloud-based services (Azure)
• Experience of working with partner resources made up of on-shore and off-shore team
• Ability to manage and track many activities that are running in parallel
• A background in Technical Project Management may be ideal for this role
