Job Description

The Engagement & Communications Manager will be responsible for;

  • Partnering with the senior leadership teams to help frame and present our Digital and Technology Strategy in a compelling way within the Division and broader organisation
  • Working with managers across Technology to stay abreast of key Directorate changes and successes and ensure these are widely known, understood and celebrated
  • Initiating, developing and updating internal communication strategy and channels to keep Technology colleagues informed and engaged
  • Working with leaders to monitor employee engagement and to develop and implement improvement initiatives
  • Developing own knowledge of the wider issues affecting the Bank and the Bank’s position on key matters and how this relates to Technology
  • Building key internal networks across the Bank to stay on top of broader cultural change initiatives ensuring technology communications are aligned with broader objectives
  • Keeping abreast of industry developments in organisational cultural change within technology
  • Advising, challenging and sometimes delivering difficult messages to senior leaders across and outside Technology
  • Presenting complex and sensitive issues and putting forward ideas credibly, developing collaborative relationships and negotiating/gaining consensus
  • Working with the Workforce Strategy lead, Technology Leadership Team and colleagues in People & Culture on people related tasks and projects such as organisational effectiveness, performance management, staff development, recruitment and engagement initiatives
  • Collaborating with colleagues in Central Services and Technology on the co-ordination of annual events such as Early Careers recruitment rounds and the Annual Salary Review

You will work independently to drive and deliver specific strategic objectives for the Directorate with limited supervision, as an active part of a busy and dynamic team.

You will have a close working relationship with the Executive Director for Technology and their office as well as colleagues across Technology, Central Services and other business areas.


 
Role Requirements
 
Minimum Essential Criteria
  • High level of written and oral communication skills – you will need to relay information clearly to staff, and to engage, inspire and educate with your messaging
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of internal communications, cultural and organisational change and people engagement
  • Diplomatic interpersonal skills and sensitivity – ability to develop strong and collaborative cross functional relationships with a variety of partners at all levels across the organisation
  • Demonstrates high levels of drive and determination – ability to think innovatively, and use initiative and deliver change
  • Operate in a highly organised and efficient manner, co-ordinating multiple responsibilities at the same time
  • Ability to provide credible guidance, governance and challenge, with the credibility to influence, negotiate outcomes and challenge prevalent thinking
  • Putting forward credible ideas and complex issues in meetings held outside the Directorate to ensure desirable outcomes for Technology

 

Desirable Criteria
  • There are no formal qualification requirements for this role, although relevant qualifications (e.g. Organisational Change/Communications degree or qualification) would be an advantage
  • Experience in, and understanding of, human resources processes and theory such as organisational change, employee motivation and development and performance management would be beneficial

This specific role offers a base salary between £45,900 - £56,970 per annum, along with our comprehensive benefits package as follows:

•    A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
•    A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
•    A 7% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
•    25 days annual leave with option to buy up to 13 additional days through flexible benefits.
•    Private medical insurance and income protection.
