We're looking for an experienced professional to join us as the Employee Relations Manager position, which manages and leads labour relations in Microsoft Korea. It is based in Seoul office and reporting to HR Lead based in Korea. The role will be partnering with Leadership team, responsible for establishing long-term & constructive union relations strategy, and ensure that it is implemented while respecting the culture of the company. 

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage strong & sustainable relationship with labour union representatives, labour council and other employees groups.
  • Lead collective bargaining and labour council management while ensuring compliance and culture.
  • Communicate and align with leaders and managers in collective employee relationship.
  • Work with HR team and leadership to ensure that everyone lives the Microsoft culture. Lead and support diverse activities to drive culture development. 
  • Ensure that all employement and collecitve relations are compliant with the international standards, Korean labor laws and Microsoft culture & policies.
  • Advise in employees related concerns, cases based on strategic goal of the company and related laws and regulations.
  • Participate in building employee experience strategy by working together with key stakeholders.
  • Manage or advise employee related investigations and work with HR service team on the awareness trainings.
  • Monitor external labor trends, new laws and industrial employee/ union relationship in order to stretagically drive necessary changes within the organization. 
  • Educates, supports, and coaches employees as they navigate the Employee Relations (ER) process for cases with increasing complexity, sensitivity, visibility and risk.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on ER-related topics both within teams and for other teams. For internal partners seeking assistance, consults on a situation or concern using subject matter expertise to make recommendations for next steps.
  • Initiates conversations with individual parties at Microsoft in conflict, listening to understand the nature of the conflict for issues with increasing complexity, visibility, and risk. Coaches and guides parties to leverage best resources and/or approach to address conflict.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management, Business Administration, Organizational Behavior, HR, Industrial Relations, Psychology, or related field AND 7+ years experience in HR, mediation, investigation, union relations, or ER-related roles.
  • 3+ years of experience managing employee conflict.
  • Korean language proficiency is required. Fluency in English is equally important.
