At the Plymouth location, we design and manufacture products for control, navigation and guidance for surface and air applications in the global aerospace and defence markets. Our world leading products include the innovative MEMS based IMUs and the digital terrain reference navigation system, TERPROM®.

We are currently seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to work on a range of inertial measurement projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing inputs to software planning, estimation and project management activities.

  • Providing inputs to the requirements analysis activity.

  • Decomposition of system requirements in to software requirements, user stories, use cases.

  • Embedded software design architectural/detailed design.

  • Development of detailed test specifications, integration and unit level.

  • Coding - primarily Embedded C++ and C for support systems and tools.

  • Verification of code against design and requirements.

  • Hardware/software integration.

  • Support performance qualification testing including the development of test tools.

Basic Requirements:

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline

  • Prior experience of Software Engineering, working within the software development lifecycle on real time embedded software, including use of high level languages C and C++, Ada (preferably modern embedded C++)

  • The ability to work well within a team as well as being self-motivated.

  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills

  • Excellent customer focus

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with software design tools e.g. Enterprise Architect or similar

  • Understanding of UML

  • Experience with version control e.g. SVN, Git, Seapine SCM

  • Experience of Test Driven Development

  • Experiences of Lean Software Development

  • Experience of providing planning input project management and bids
