Job Description
Major Responsibilities:
The Election Assistant, Election Services (Training), under the direction of the Project Manager, Election Services, will support and implement all aspects of the municipal election with specific responsibilities to support training.
- Loads/unloads election supplies and equipment such as paper products, cardboard, equipment, boxes, furniture, etc.
- Assembles supplies, equipment and furniture.
- Receives, inventories and distributes documents and election supplies using dolly or hand-operated pump lift.
- Stocks shelves.
- Sets up furniture, equipment and supplies.
- Provides proofing to ensure quality control of election products such as ballots, voters lists, voting place supplies.
- Tests and operates election voting equipment.
- Performs clerical duties such as responding to inquiries, data input, photocopying/faxing, sorting, collating, etc.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience in clerical duties and processing, sorting and organizing supplies and equipment
- Experience working in a customer service and team environment, effectively dealing with the public and staff, responding to inquiries both in person, through email and on the telephone
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook), including working within a Windows operating-system environment
- Experience working with database systems
- Experience in proofreading for quality assurance with attention to detail
You must also have:
- Ability to lift materials weighing up to 40 pounds
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as cooperatively as part of a team
- Good organizational and multi-tasking skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work on multiple projects in fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability and willingness to work overtime during peak periods including evenings, statutory holidays and weekends as required
