Job Description

BBC Cymru Wales Operations is home to a creative and dynamic in-house Post Production facility operating across our two bases in Cardiff - Central Square and Roath Lock Studios. We post produce a wide range of programmes for Public Service, BBC Studios and the Indie sector including Crimewatch Live, Crash Detectives, Casualty, Hayley Goes…, the URC coverage for Scrum V and Clwb Rygbi, and local output across all genres including live and fast turnaround programmes, and O.B.’s. 

Role Responsibility

The main responsibilities will be to assist editors and all members of the post production team with operational support as well as troubleshoot for production and Editors with editing queries as appropriate.  You will media manage in an interplay environment as well as export media in a variety of codecs and wrappers including QTs, AS11s, Pro Res files and other formats.  You will have experience in Ingesting from a variety of card based formats, archive files or legacy tape based media.  You will upload to cloud based viewing systems and file transfer systems and undertake small fixes, sync pulls and edits as required.  You will also guide freelancers through internal workflows, procedures and systems.

The Ideal Candidate

Our busy team are supported by the edit assistants, who fulfil a variety of tasks within Post Production from running to assisting the Operations staff in all areas, alongside freelancers and members of production. You'll be familiar with Post Production techniques and terminology, and be able to demonstrate previous experience in these areas.  You will need to be enthusiastic, patient and resourceful and have good organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise tasks.
