What’s my role and where will I fit in?
Working alongside the Senior Ranger to deliver guided walks and events on the Dorenell Waymarked trails and in the wider communities around the Cabrach and Dufftown
• You will assist in the development and delivery of an outdoor education programme for schools and groups to promote responsible access, nature connection and the work of EDF Renewables
• Work with the Senior Ranger to promote the Dorenell Visitor Centre and assist with its day to day running
• Undertake environmental survey work on Dorenell wind farm including Eagle vantage point surveys, carcass searches and vegetation monitoring
• Liaising with key stakeholders (NatureScot, RSPB, Moray Council, Forestry Commission Scotland etc.), the wind farm landowner and other landowners, regarding the implementation and management of the Habitat Management Plan
• Supervise the Golden Eagle tagging and tracking project
• Preparing annual monitoring reports to demonstrate compliance with the HMP
What you need to be great at this role:
You’ll have a good understanding of outdoor health and safety and have the physical fitness for working outdoors in an upland environment all year round.
Previous experience of working as a countryside Ranger or similar profession with a good understanding of the role of Rangers in the countryside.
You will enjoy engaging with the public and have experience of working with a diverse range of groups.
You will have experience of wildlife and vegetation monitoring or the willingness to learn new skills.
For this role you may be required to work an occasional weekend and evening and have a full, clean UK driving license.
There will be a full Disclosure Scotland check.
