About the opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to join a multi-operational site in central Christchurch overseeing the operations of our complex Distribution Center. Reporting to the Distribution Centre Manager, and managing a team of around 15 staff within the DC, your accountability will predominantly sit within the management, coaching and guidance of the team to deliver on day-to-day operational requirements. The Distribution Center operates 24/7 and offers plenty of complexity and a well running team is managing the daily operations to ensure that product is safely and efficiently stored, receipted, and dispatched.

Enforcing strict adherence to Fonterra's health and safety policies and operational strategies, you will ensure optimal utilization of resources - both people and assets. You'll achieve this through effective management of employment relationships and developing our teams and people through high performance and capability building initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Monitor staffing level / overtime requirements daily
• Formulating and implementing daily, weekly plans to effectively allocate all available resources to match operational demand
• Work with employees to identify training and non-training solutions to performance gaps
• Provide day to day leadership and direction to ensure the team performance delivers the business and customer needs in a collaborative and integrated way

About you

We're looking for a natural and passionate leader who is highly collaborative to manage this motivated team. There is an opportunity to make a big impact and so the role would suit someone who has a focus on continuous improvement and hunger for efficiency.

You'll come from an environment within distribution and warehousing, and be ready to move into another busy site that offers great long-term opportunities.

Other desired skills include:

• Prior experience in a similar Logistics, Distribution or Warehousing environment
• Proficient using SAP systems and Microsoft Excel
• Confidence to coach, mentor and develop your team
• Skilled at building collaborative teams; managing and measuring team deliverables
