About the team

The Industry Engagement and Development (IED) sub-branch within Commercial, Performance & Strategy is a recently established team within Infrastructure and Place. The team will lead engagement with the construction and infrastructure industry, building networks to foster business, industry innovation, and partnerships to elevate the delivery of infrastructure projects across NSW. Working collaboratively across the TfNSW and the sector, IED will supports inter-government initiatives, work with project teams to facilitate early market engagement, drive industry engagement and provide market analysis and insights to facilitate informed decision making.   

 

 

The Opportunity

 

The Director Stakeholder Engagement leads and directs the division to support engagement with the construction and infrastructure industry early and often.

 

Your role will be a crucial influence on industry attraction and growth while supporting and building thriving innovation initiatives that improve project outcomes at the earliest stages of the pipeline for large-scale construction and infrastructure in NSW. You will be instrumental in building networks with key decision makers domestically and internationally to foster business, industry, innovation and partnerships in the NSW transport space. Key to your success will be your ability remain abreast of current and emerging issues and trends, including domestic and international best practice, innovative approaches and opportunities to support the achievements of the business objectives.

 

You will work closely with the Heads in Infrastructure and Place and across the cluster as well as with representatives from government, industry and peak bodies to create a culture of trust, collaboration and continuous improvement between industry partners, government agencies and transport.

 

Key accountabilities:

Act as a thought leader, remaining abreast of current and emerging planning issues and trends, including domestic and international best practice, innovative approaches and opportunities to support the achievements of the business objectives.

Develop stakeholder engagement strategies and plans to assist in the effective management of information and engagement needs with the construction and infrastructure industry for Transport for NSW

Manage and implement systems, tools and protocols to track and coordinate reporting on key stakeholder engagement activities across all significant program and projects

Provide strategic advice to the Director Industry Engagement & Development on the effective management of emerging communications and stakeholder issues to ensure concerns are resolved in a timely and effective manner by analysing reports and provide suggestions to senior management on ways to address key relationships and mitigate issues

Manage media activities and ministerial and government interface in collaboration with other Divisions to ensure accurate and timely information is provided.

Assist the Director Industry Engagement & Development to design, develop and implement working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote open communications and facilitate delivery of best practice stakeholder engagement initiatives

About you

 

To be successful in this role you will be motivated and focused on developing and implementing the strategy, systems and a vision underpinned by building and sustaining cohesive relationships with a high-profile strategic stakeholders and service providers.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in developing, implementing and evaluating stakeholder engagement strategies and have demonstrable experience in embedding engagement principles and practices that achieve mutually beneficial outcomes for government and industry.

 

You will have degree qualifications in communications, journalism, business, public relations or relevant field experience with a passion for genuine engagement with industry and senior stakeholders. Your wealth of experience designing and implementing engagement strategies to support projects, preferably in government and/or the building and construction sector will be highly regarded.

 

You will be well known for your ability to work as part of a team - collaborative, engaging and influential with a strategic understanding of the workings of government with a solid understanding of risk and demonstrated experience in collaborating and negotiating across multiple stakeholders to achieve improved outcomes for the people of NSW.
