Director: Regional COVID response group – Canterbury and the Chatham Islands

Fixed Term or Secondment to June 2023, Full time

 
Public Service in the Regions

We work together to make a difference for New Zealanders ensuring our COVID welfare response is aligned to and supporting the national health response.  

We do this through four key groups; Regional Public Service Commissioners, will coordinate and align the public service contribution across 16 regions, COVID Protection Framework Regional Leadership Groups (CPF RLGs) who will oversee and enable an effectively locally-led and delivered Care in the Community response, DHBs leading the regional health response and MSD Regional Commissioners, who will coordinate the welfare system response as part of the Care in the Community approach

These four groups are supported by a number of teams, providing operational support, data, analytics and policy advice.

 

Purpose of the Director: Regional COVID response group:   

The Director: Regional COVID response group will provide high level strategic and operational advice and support to the Regional Public Service Commissioner on strategy implementation and cross agency and stakeholder engagement.  

This role supports and strengthens relationships with key stakeholders from across the region and central government. The role holder will leverage these relationships to implement strategies and initiatives for the benefit of the region's communities, focused around the regions' cross-sector priority areas.   

In addition, the role will support the CPF RLG Chairs and help manage the effective function of the CPF Regional Leadership Group. 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the development and implementation of regional strategies and plans
  • Establishing, building and maintaining effective strategic relationships internally and externally
  • Providing high quality, evidence based, advice and policy analysis to RPSC

 

You have:

  • Strong relationship management skills and experience
  • Extensive experience in providing advice and support to senior leaders within the public sector
  • Experience in turning strategic intent into delivery that makes a difference to communities
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of prioritising in an often busy and complex environment and navigating competing deadlines
  • An understanding of and commitment to The Treaty of Waitangi 
  • The ability to travel as the role requires
