Position Summary:

The Director, Portfolio Management role is a critical leadership role in the Global Technology and Business Process PMO within ADM, reporting to the Vice President, PMO. This person will facilitate decision-making for project investments impacted business processes or enabled by technology and ensure the focused operations of the portfolio.

Operationally, this person will ensure discipline across the portfolio for the master program and project schedule, resource capacity management, financial management, and program and project health.

Strategically, this person will help partner with the enterprise portfolio team (Readiness Office) on Demand Management and investment posture for technology and business process investments and the focused delivery of value through the portfolio.

This person will serve as the Workstream Leader for ADM’s operating model work stream, ensuring value delivery for ADM.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with global, senior level leaders to assist with translating business strategies into project execution - operating at both the strategic and tactical level to manage expectations and perceptions.
  • Partner with experienced IT leaders in shaping business challenges and opportunities into IT projects.
  • Facilitate portfolio management processes, including but not limited to demand management, resource management, and financial management. Heavy emphasis on identifying and quantifying the impact of trade-off decisions required to accommodate new demand.
  • Analyze multiple sources of data across various systems in order to support decision making, assess portfolio risk, and proactively identify obstacles.
  • Be responsible for and coordinate dependencies across the programs and projects within the portfolio; identify and remediate risks and issues or facilitate the escalation of such.
  • Be a main point of contact for both business and IT questions, concerns, and issues around IT projects.
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities with existing and to-be-developed portfolio management processes.

Job Requirements:

  • B.S. in Information Systems or related field and four years of job experience OR ten years of relevant job experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize multiple types and sources of information into action.
  • Demonstrated experience with portfolio, program, and/or project management, including bi-modal project management methodologies.
  • Ability to grasp technical concepts quickly, solid ability to translate technical verbiage into easily understandable language for non-technical audiences.
  • Possess a high degree of situational awareness, including political astuteness, and the ability to influence through informal power structures of the organization in order to clear obstacles and achieve success for the portfolio.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation communication skills; ability to translate raw data into a compelling story for all ranges of consumers, including senior executives.
