About the team

The Operations, Customer and Placemaking division manage Metro operations to deliver integrated, reliable, customer-focused and efficient services for the current and future metro network, precincts and corridors. The division is focused on developing an integrated network with connected and thriving precincts, achieving urban amenity, commercial viability and supporting corridor growth.

 

 

The opportunity

Opening the next major section of the Sydney Metro network and connecting Sydney’s northwest to the Sydney CBD and southwest – realising a step change in how Sydney moves. We are seeking a Director Operational Readiness to lead an Operational Readiness team to coordinate external Delivery Partners, internal and external stakeholders and the future operator to ensure the business, customers and community are prepared for Day One operation and multiple ‘go live’ milestones along the way, as scheduled. You will drive cross-cluster operational readiness activities, with a dedicated and coordinated focus on the activities required for the delivery of project outcomes and a fully integrated Metro service.

The Director Operational Readiness will be a key member of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest Project Leadership team and make a significant contribution to the strategic planning, management and overall delivery of the Project. You will also be a core member of the Customer & Service Planning Leaderhsip team within the Operations, Customer and Placemaking division and will be able to utilise subject matter expertise from across Sydney Metro’s matrix organisation. You will be a strong and engaging leader who can handle complex governance and project environments and may be required to speak to the media from time to time. Key challenges will be influencing the delivery of operational readiness outcomes in an extremely complex and high pressure environment with competing stakeholder requirements and the ability to critically assess the readiness of the operator and manage outcomes via a complex contractual relationship.

About you

 

You are highly collaborative and calm under pressure with superior stakeholder engagement expertise. You will possess advanced leadership skills, the ability to influence and negotiate with a proven track record in assuring operational readiness plans for rail, infrastructure or other mega projects. Moreover your nous to navigate through government processes, combined with the ability to drive delivery in a complex, politically sensitive environment will enhance your success in this role.
