Job Description

You will be a key, valued member of the Medical Oncology and Haematology multidisciplinary teams, managing patients across both inpatient and outpatients settings.  There is the potential to participate in and lead service improvement, resource development and other innovative practice. In addition to practicing primarily within medical oncology and hematology, you will also provide a general clinical service to the adult inpatient wards.

Moū - About you

In addition to strong clinical skills, you will also need the ability to quickly build strong working relationships with patients, whānau and the wider multidisciplinary team.  Excellent time management and prioritisation skills are a must. Working with a diverse group of patients with significant health needs, the post holder will require excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex nutritional concepts into practical suggestions for patients and their whānau.

DUTIES 

  • Assess and manage the nutritional requirements of patients within the medical oncology and haematology services
  • Assess and manage the nutritional requirements of adult inpatients, including those requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition
  • Support the wider dietetic team as clinical demand requires
  • Support the ongoing development of the dietetic service
  • Participate in student supervision

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • NZ Registered Dietitian with current APC
  • Dietitian Prescriber
  • Recent experience in enteral nutrition support
  • Ability to manage a complex and diverse clinical caseload
  • Ability to build rapport and adapt your communication style to suit a wide variety of patient groups
  • Self-motivated and organised
