This is an excellent opportunity for a Data Scientist to join one of our following offices, Cardiff, Birmingham, Leeds, Ipswich, or London on a permanent basis.
We are looking for data scientists to join the Advancing Analytics team within the Data, Analytics and Insight Office (DAIO for short). We are responsible for developing, testing and applying a variety of data science techniques to create opportunities to transform the business as well and helping to generate insights that support strategic decisions for Openreach. Ultimately our team is here to use innovation to deliver world class service to our customers. This is an exciting time to join us because we are building ultrafast full fibre broadband across the UK and we want to connect millions of customers to that new network.
Your role is to combine your knowledge of analytics, modelling and AI with a good understanding of the business to identify opportunities to improve the way we work and to implement these to improve the customer journey. You will partner with stakeholders from across the business to understand their pain points and collaborate to find solutions, as well as proactively identifying opportunities for change. You will solve complex business issues through the development of models using the wide range of data that we have available and work with ML engineers to deploy these into the business.
You'll have the following responsibilities
• Developing models to solve complex business issues, through the use of multi-source data and strong descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics skills
• Implementing Artificial Intelligence, including Machine Learning tools, to create solutions and to support business decisions.
• Supporting business teams by creating low-touch solutions to provide optimal ROI from data science
• Driving the exploration of data sources and analytic techniques to create new modelling approaches
• Working with senior stakeholders to understand their pain-points and identify data-led solutions to resolve these
You'll have the following skills & experience
• Recent experience in applying data science, including machine learning algorithms, to solve loosely defined business problems
• Expert knowledge in Python and/or R, plus SQL/HQL
• Working knowledge using and scaling data science products in a cloud environment (GCP preferred)
• Strong ability to reason under uncertainty, combine analytical thinking with contextual knowledge and use critical thinking to extract and interpret information from data
• Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex information into simple high level messages designed to make the case for change in the business
