The National Management Centre will provide visibility and control of information risks for Policing. It will support the 24x7x365 nature of the police operations, providing a threat detection and response capability for digital services before, during and after cyber attacks, enabling stakeholders to understand and proactively manage risk across the technology estate at both the national and force level.
You'll be involved with:
Identification of critical services within forces where loss would negatively impact police operations.
Awareness of the cyber risks to critical services by continually assessing the threat landscape and informing stakeholders. Detecting when, where and how attacks take place.
Reporting cyber risks to service, executive and operational stakeholders for mitigation decisions.
Limiting the impact of known cyber risks by engaging forces in pre-incident planning and preparatory activities.
Constraining attack surfaces through proactive penetration testing, vulnerability management, and threat hunting.
You'll have the following responsibilities
Provide expertise through the development and use of analytical products to assist mitigation practices at a tactical and operational level.
Conducting analysis at a tactical and or operational level, identifying and using appropriate analytical tools and techniques to interpret gaps, patterns and trends, assess threat, risk and harm and make recommendations in support of decision making, prioritisation and resource allocation.
You will perform a broad range of tasks, bringing together output from stakeholders within Cyber SOC, Malware, Threat Hunting and Vulnerability teams.
Establishing and interpreting requirements to ensure the needs of key stakeholders are met.
Preparing and delivering analytical summaries and briefings to stakeholders to provide a clear and concise evidence based understanding of the subject matter, including providing advice and guidance.
You will provide analysis of threat data from a variety of sources, ultimately generating real threat intelligence that is actionable.
You will be responsible for developing an understanding of the cyber risks facing policing, performing core intelligence tasks focussing on social, cultural and geopolitical context of cyber intelligence analysis.
You will also work to understand how to mitigate those threats and work with other teams within the NMC to ensure protection is maintained.
National Support Team Responsibilities:
Collate information from local forces, external threat sources, technical vulnerability sources, analysing that information and turning it into timely, relevant and actionable intelligence for forces.
Give forces a clear and documented understanding of how to assess and treat the actionable threat Intelligence provided by the NMC.
Work with stakeholders on a continuous improvement programme resulting in improved threat information and improved threat mitigation by forces.
Ensure stakeholders are expressing a high level of satisfaction with cyber threat intelligence across policing, including the timeliness and quality of communications.
You'll have the following skills & experience
Core competencies: You must be insatiably curious. A highly self-motivated and confident thinker, fair-minded and openness to varied perspectives, allowing you to make creative connections in order to solve intelligence problems.
Story-telling with data: strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business audiences
Business acumen: Knowledgeable in business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, including the impact of recommendations you make.
Communication: Excellent ability to translate complex issues to the relevant audience, both verbally and written.
Ability to generate clear and concise reports and presentations for stakeholders, from technical analysts to management and senior leadership teams.
Completed Intelligence Analysis course (e.g. NIAT, RISC UK or similar), or willingness to work towards
Preferably multiple years working in an intelligence environment, ideally as an intelligence researcher or analyst
Preferably completed CREST Registered Threat Intelligence Analyst, or willingness to work towards
Preferably completed Recorded Future Certified Engineer Lab course, or willingness to work towards
Experience in internal and external stakeholder management and engagement preferred.
Preferred demonstrated experience in developing and delivering crime or risk reduction recommendations and / or strategies
The ability to gain and maintain SC and NPPV clearance is required for this role.
