Job Description

Our mission is to break down the barriers of today to release the potential of tomorrow. Join us today and release yours.

There are two things that we want to share with anyone considering joining us.

Firstly, we’ve got big ambitions for our colleagues and the future of the organisation. These include our vision that inclusion and accessibility drive every conversation we have and every decision we make. We want our workforce to fully represent the communities and customers we serve, because a diverse business is a better business. We value every colleague, their diversity and the contribution that they make. When we say you’re welcome at BT, we really mean it.

Secondly, the one thing the pandemic has taught us is that a lot of current and future colleagues, where and when possible, want to embrace hybrid working. Therefore, we are introducing smart working at BT. Smart working means having the flexibility to choose, as a team, how and where you work depending on your team’s deliverables and needs; when you are at your shared core location to connect with others and when not. It may not be for every role, and, as part of the recruitment process, you’ll have the chance to discuss smart working and how it might work for the job you are applying for.

About this role

There are few jobs in BT that have a bigger social impact than being a part of the 999 service. The Trinity 999 team has been developing applications that support the 999 service for over 20 years. In that time we have innovated and developed applications that make a difference to every genuine 999 caller. We’ve automated caller location, providing the emergency services with accurate and precise incident location, getting them where they need to be faster.

We provide automated monitoring of calls looking for callers who may be vulnerable, cannot speak or who may be abusing the service. We provide systems that support in-vehicle telematics, alerting the emergency services of incidents without the need for a voice call.

Being a member of the Trinity team is demanding, getting it right first time, every time is crucial. We are a small, ring fenced dedicated team who look after a big platform. It’s hard work but very rewarding.

You'll have the following responsibilities

Be responsible for gathering requirements for and purchasing server and network infrastructure.

Organising design and installation of Operating Systems, databases and other standard tools and software.

Applying for appropriate exemptions where required.

Completing all Acceptance into Service checks and certification.

In parallel to the activities above the successful applicant will be proactively learning about the service and software systems that supports it.

In the second year the role will become more service focussed and the successful applicant should be able to transition into that role with minimal further training/experience.

Initially managing deployment of server and network infrastructure that supports the 999 service.

Supporting security compliance with BT SACS and TSR requirements.

Analysing data relating to 999 call handling for the purpose of quality assurance, fault identification and resolution.

Managing communications and engagement during high priority fault resolution.

You'll have the following skills & experience

Experience of bespoke, dedicated infrastructure design, acquisition, and deployment.

Experience of BT security policies in relation to infrastructure and applications.

Experience of Service Management including fault resolution and customer communications.

Project Management experience to programme level deployments.

Master’s degree in a technology related subject.
