Job Description

About us

Transport for NSW keeps our State moving by providing safe, integrated and efficient transport systems. We put our customers at the centre of everything we do – and we do a lot. We connect people, communities and industry and manage how they use our road, rail and maritime networks and services, and even active modes like walking and cycling. The work we do connects the journeys you take every day.

We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.

That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas right across NSW – you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

The Division

The Greater Sydney Division is redefining integrated transport choices to improve the lives of customers and communities, making Greater Sydney a better place to live, work and play. We have the single biggest place making opportunity at Transport in the coming years, reshaping Greater Sydney into a metropolis of three cities – Eastern Harbour City, Central River City and Western Parklands City - whilst also overseeing the Greater Sydney region as a whole.

Greater Sydney is focused on these three cities and delivering a joined-up transport network and services to ensure these cities become the places that their customers and communities really want.

The opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to join the Community and Place, Central River City Team (Greater Sydney), as a Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Officer.

The Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Officer is responsible for providing specialist advice and services across stakeholder consultation, customer information issues management and digital strategies and other relevant support to assist in the delivery of the full range of communication and stakeholder engagement services for the Central River Region.

Further responsibilities include:

Partner with other members of the wider place/project communication teams to implement communications plan activities to time, cost and expectations.

Develop communication and stakeholder engagement strategies and plans, including the identification of educational and promotional information and draft communications.

Develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the effectiveness of a range of events, workshops and stakeholder consultation activities including customer information, stakeholder consultation, internal communication, issues management and liaison with the media unit, and online and digital strategies to maximise stakeholder engagement and feedback.

Deliver branch administration such as approval processes, invoicing and work in progress documents and monitoring and reporting on all communication and engagement activity.

This is a Permanent Full Time position and will offer a hybrid working arrangement.

For more information on the position, you can view the role description here.

About you

The successful candidate will be a Communications professional, ideally with previous experience working in a large, complex, operational environment. Having worked in an operational environment, you will have a flair for interpreting and translating technical information into digestible material for your chosen audience.

You will demonstrate impeccable communication skills, both written and verbal, as you will partner with various internal and external stakeholders to assist in the delivery of communications campaigns for our customers.

We are looking for a strategic, creative, big-picture thinker, who can adapt quickly and manage competing priorities in an everchanging environment.

Formal qualifications in a relevant field are a bonus, but not essential.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is Grade 7 ($106,086 - $118,816) per annum, plus superannuation, flex and leave loading. To read more about the benefits of working for TfNSW, click here.
