Program Manager
Role
We are looking for a Program Manager to oversee AMD CPU silicon development from concept through tape out. In this role you will be the champion responsible for focusing on process improvement, execution, and business processes and to meet product, schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
Candidate
The candidate should have a process-oriented mind-set, both for technical and management aspects as well as a strong understanding of the general silicon engineering process (preferably GPU, CPU or APU), from concept to tape-out to production. We are looking for a well-organized leader with a strong background in bringing CPUs or SoC’s to market, who is capable of planning cross-team execution, identifying dependencies and to enable a core team to deliver on their commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Defines, plans, and drives projects and program plans based on management and senior technical guidance
Scope technical feasibility of new products by clarifying and analyzing requirements with Architects, and Technical Leads
Develop program schedule by considering various components and dependencies, negotiate and create a Staffing Plan that supports the schedule
Strong technical program management of various functional teams, influencing and supervising workstreams for Architects and Senior Development Staff, identifying and verifying existing and new deliverables, and forging positive relationships with Cross-Functional teams play a large part to succeed in the role.
A passion for crafting detailed plans and working with a diverse, international team is required for this highly visible role. Working within either flexible or very aggressive schedules should be expected as the role will bring forth a multitude of different opportunities to explore. Having to build, create and maintain a well-developed, managed and executed program plan is critical.
You will establish formal program management artifacts including a plan of record, statements of work, project/program timelines, budget, scope, performance, and quality KPIs. Excellence in resource planning is a must.
The successful candidate must also plan for risks in the development path, identify prevention methods, and address them to save on engineering costs.
Being comfortable working with senior executives is a hard requirement. You must address the needs and requirements called upon from AMD's Engineering, Product Management and Customer Engineering organizations.
Strong documentation and communication skills will be called upon frequently, especially in delivering streamlined, clear, and concise information to functional managers and executives.
Preferred Experience
Proven track record of driving multiple silicon development from concept to tape out.
Excellent analytical, project planning, and leadership skills while being highly organized, able to prioritize, and balance multiple work streams to deadlines
Excellent written, verbal communication and executive level presentation skills with the ability to influence horizontally across internal functional organizations
Ability to structure and execute sophisticated analysis, draw insights, and communicate summary findings/recommendations to senior executive management and AMD customers
Breadth knowledge of x86 CPU/SoC/Chipset/Graphics architecture and experience in functional, electrical, power-performance or security pre- and post- silicon validation.
Skilled in collaborating with customers, partners and in managing joint-development projects
Ability to extract action plans from sophisticated technical discussions and translate into succinct messaging tailored for varied targeted audiences
Familiarity with budgeting, resource prioritization, and long-range planning
Seasoned in leveraging MS Project, Excel, Share Point, Teams or Confluence for clear communications and coordination of work.
Familiarity with JAMA, JIRA and similar Systems Engineering requirements management and defect tracking tools.
